Why it matters

King's North is one of three courses at the inland Myrtle Beach National complex, redesigned by Arnold Palmer in 1996. The signature hole — the par-5 6th, nicknamed 'The Gambler' — features an island fairway in the middle of a lake: take the safe long route around, or roll the dice on a heroic carry to the island for the shorter approach. It is the most-photographed inland hole on the Strand and the reason the course consistently ranks in the top tier of value-leaning Myrtle picks.

How to play it

15 minutes inland from Myrtle Beach proper. Pairs well with the rest of the Myrtle Beach National complex (West + Southcreek courses next door) for a single-property 36 or 54 hole day.
