Why it matters
Caledonia opened in 1994 as Mike Strantz's first solo design — laid out on a former rice plantation 30 minutes south of Myrtle Beach with the Lowcountry oaks and Spanish moss intact. The course consistently ranks at the top of any Myrtle Beach list and is the more refined of the Strantz pair with True Blue next door. The clubhouse (an old plantation house) and the post-round shrimp burgers are part of the experience.
How to play it
Walking encouraged; carts available. 30 minutes south of Myrtle Beach International (MYR). Pair with True Blue for a Strantz 36-hole day. Murrells Inlet seafood for dinner.
