Why it matters
TPC Scottsdale's Stadium Course (Tom Weiskopf + Jay Morrish, 1986) hosts the WM Phoenix Open every February and is the most-watched course in American public golf for one week a year. The 16th hole — a fully-enclosed par-3 stadium that holds 20,000 fans — is the loudest single piece of architecture in the game. The rest of the course is a fair, conditioned desert routing that plays well any non-Open week.
How to play it
Cart standard. 30 minutes from PHX. The Champions Course next door is the cheaper sibling. Walk the 16th from behind the tee box even if you do not play — the scale is the experience. Closed the week of the Open every Feb.
