Why it matters

Blackwolf Run's River Course was Pete Dye's original Kohler design (1988), built years before Whistling Straits and on the Sheboygan River rather than the Lake Michigan shore. The 1998 US Women's Open was held here (Se Ri Pak's playoff win is one of the iconic moments in the women's game). Tiger Woods has called it the toughest course he has ever played. Routed through woods and across the river — completely different from Whistling Straits and the natural complement on a Kohler stay.

How to play it

Cart standard. The American Club is the natural stay. Pair with the Whistling Straits Straits Course and Irish Course for a four-day Kohler week — Blackwolf River is the toughest of the four.
